Content Creation product Built to WCAG 2.2 AA

Content Creation

Spotlight for SharePoint

Give recognition, news, and key announcements the attention they deserve, without hijacking the reader's page.

Spotlight features news, recognition, and announcements in a curated or list-driven set, with scheduling and a pause control.

  • Platform: SharePoint Online
  • Licensing: Per tenant, annual
  • Accessibility: WCAG 2.2 AA

At a glance

Spotlight rotates real news and recognition items, and an auto-rotating box on a product page would distract more than it explains.

Spotlight gives recognition, news, and key announcements the attention they deserve, without letting a rotating banner take over the page a reader came for.

  • Manual curation or a live list or search query
  • Scheduled start and end dates per item
  • Pause control, plus motion-free layouts

Rotation, scheduling, and the pause control are all configurable per instance.

Capabilities

What Spotlight does

Manual or dynamic
Curate items by hand, or drive the list from a SharePoint list or search query.
Scheduling
Set start and end dates so featured items retire themselves automatically.
Layout choices
Present a single hero item, a rotating set, or a static grid of highlights.
Pause control
Rotation includes a clearly labelled pause and resume control for every visitor.
Rich item cards
Combine image, headline, summary, and a single clear call to action.
Theme aware
Follows your SharePoint theme while preserving text contrast over images.

Accessibility conformance

Spotlight is developed and tested against WCAG 2.2 AA and is suitable for inclusion in an accessibility conformance report.

  • Automatic rotation can be paused, stopped, and resumed, satisfying Pause, Stop, Hide.
  • Rotation stops automatically when focus or the pointer enters the component.
  • Slide changes are announced politely and never steal focus from the reader.
  • Previous and next controls are native buttons that meet Target Size (Minimum).
  • Text over imagery keeps at least 4.5:1 contrast through an adaptive overlay.
  • Rotation is disabled entirely when the visitor prefers reduced motion.

Overview

What Spotlight does

Rather than run a rotating carousel here, this is what the web part does and how teams configure it.

What it is for

Spotlight gives recognition, news, and key announcements the attention they deserve, without letting a rotating banner take over the page a reader came for.

Key features

  • Curate items by hand, or drive the list from a SharePoint list or search query
  • Start and end dates so featured items retire themselves
  • A clearly labelled pause and resume control on any rotation
  • Static grid and single item layouts that render with no motion at all

What your team gets

  • Announcements stay current without someone remembering to remove them
  • Readers who find movement difficult can stop it, or never see it at all
  • Recognition gets a consistent home instead of a one-off page edit each time
